Organizing is all about movement building and that’s exactly what this summer’s Change It participants took part in. In July, one hundred and forty students came to Boston or Seattle and received twenty-one different trainings from Greenpeace staff and allies, ranging from campaign planning, to petitioning, to non-violent direct action.
Beyond trainings, participants were engaged in the motivational words of numerous speakers such as author Bill McKibben, Mountaintop Removal activist Judy Bonds, First Nations Boreal Forests campaigner, Sophia Rabliauskas and the founder of Earth Day, Denis Hayes. Through the speakers personal stories of activism, participants were instilled with hope and strength.
